WILPF Calls for All Parties to be at the
Middle East Table
by US Section Rapid Response Team

The US Section of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom at its Triennial Congress 2014 passed a resolution demanding:
- That the US government immediately support a complete cease fire in Gaza and the lifting of the siege of Gaza.
- That WILPF US call for an end of US aid to Israel, according to US laws, as long as Israel violates human rights.
- That we call for an end of the occupation and immediate negotiations, with all parties, including Hamas, invited to the peace table.
This resolution, approved August 3, 2014, updates the resolution approved July 26, 2014, calling for a cease fire in Gaza. Read more . . .

WILPF Congress Protests Water Shutoff in Detroit
By the Congress Committee

WILPF women from around the US and International WILPF converged on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit July 31-August 3 for the 32nd Triennial WILPF-US Congress. Attendees joined Detroiters protesting the shutoff of water at a rally August 1, in solidarity with the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization. They approved a resolution at the final plenary on August 3 calling on the Detroit Water and Sewage Department to implement the original 2005 Detroit Water Affordability Program, and not privatize this public resource. We’ve been anticipating celebrations for the 100-year Anniversary of WILPF for some time, as you know, and serious planning is underway. Our centennial celebration will culminate not only in our triennial International Congress but also in a conference in The Hague. The International Congress and the conference are separate events.
Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the conference April 27-29, 2015. We all hope that as many WILPF-US members as possible will be able to join in the conference. Read more . . .

Come to the New York City Climate Change Convergence
by Nancy Price, Earth Democracy/Global Warming-Sustainable Energy group
The New York City Climate Convergence organized by the Global Climate Convergence and System Change not Climate Change takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19-20, just before the People’s Climate March on Sunday, Sept. 21 – slated to be the largest climate march in U.S. history.
The objective of the Climate Summit is to build and strengthen an environmental movement that addresses the root causes of the climate crisis — a social-economic system that values profits over people, planet and peace. http://globalclimateconvergence.org/
Come to New York City and be part of history in the making just days before the corporate-captured UN Climate Summit on Sept. 23. At the Convergence Plenaries and workshops, speakers will challenge the UN process that only proposes false solutions like carbon trading and sets meager greenhouse gas reduction targets. This Convergence will raise the bar – laying out real solutions to the climate emergency that also solve the crises of economic and racial justice, human rights, democracy and peace, and at the same time recognizing the rights of Mother Earth.
