Bradley Manning's military trial is scheduled for June 4, 2013 at Ft. Meade, MD. Having been severely mistreated as a military prisoner, Bradley Manning is being judged, after 18 months, through a military process that denies his basic rights to a fair trial.
WILPF supports Manning’s right to a fair trial, that he is a peacemaker who acted on his convictions to reveal that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan violate human rights. As former whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg has said, "If Bradley Manning did what he's accused of, then he's a hero of mine." His actions caused the death or injury of not a single U.S. citizen — in stark contrast to our government's actions.
We urge you to sign this petition and to organize and stand with Manning wherever you live. This is clearly a significant national issue with serious freedom of speech implications for all of us.
