From the President's Corner August 19, 2014 Community. Commitment. Courage. Dear WILPF Members: Community, Commitment and Courage define the city of Detroit and our 32nd Triennial Congress 2014: "Detroit Global: Women, Democracy and Corporate Power". I use the present tense in recognition that those same qualities, those same definitions of the 'content of our character' also apply to WILPF US as an organization. As many of you know by now, our Director of Operations, Ria Kulenvoic, handed in her resignation (October 3 is her last day). We are greatly saddened by the loss of such a dedicated and knowledgeable employee and will always cherish her energetic and enthusiastic support of WILPF. However, you can be assured that the Personnel Committee and the Board are working to employ adequate staffing and Ria will be in the office and assisting with transition plans during the month of September. Also, we have IT/Communications coverage. Please send any requests for updates of the website, emails and listservs, as well as news items for eNews to the Communications Committee chair Joan Bazar joanbazar@sbcglobal.net for collating and forwarding. Ideas for petitions and resolutions are to be sent to the Rapid Response Team chair Fran Foulkrod franf16@verizon.net . Keep in mind that we will be needing articles for Peace & Freedom — it's never too early to start thinking about it! Send proposals to Carole Vaporean editor@wilpfus.org. Also, we are working on bringing you the video highlights of the Detroit Congress, so you all can join in the celebration of 99 years of WILPF and get a flavor of Congress itself. We are fortunate to be carrying on with the reinvigorating experience and the courageous spirit of the Detroit Congress at our backs. Yours in Solidarity,
Mary Hanson Harrison President, WILPF-US |
